Hi! Thanks for stopping by Radiant by Nature today - I'm so glad you're here! I'm Shannon Wintheiser, founder of Radiant By Nature and pursuer of all things leading to a happier, healthier, and more balanced existence. I am a Certified Holistic Health Coach (CHHC) and hot yoga instructor.
You're a driven, active woman with a desire to clean up your diet, get truly healthy, and get back that all-day energy you used to have. But you're not quite sure where to start, or how to make sense of all the confusing nutrition information out there.
I love helping ladies like you get on the fast-track to glowing health. Simplifying and making holistic health fun and attainable is what I'm super passionate about. You don't have to cook like a 3-star Michelin Chef or workout like those crazy cross-fit competitors to look and feel the way you want - nothing short of radiant and energetic. And I'm here to show you how!
How I Got Here
A few...fine, let's say "not too many" years ago, I was a young 20-something professional in what was supposed to be the prime of my life...but I felt like I went from age 20 to 50 in about 3 years.
My energy was zapped, and although I exercised like a maniac, I just couldn't shake those extra five pounds I had gained since I joined the corporate world ("work-weight", I affectionately called it). My sleep was...well, crap! I noticed new wrinkles popping up around my eyes, my skin was dull, and I looked tired. My hair was thinning, and I had stopped menstruating. Bad news all around!
Back then I ate whatever was convenient, and not too unhealthy (I did have a weakness for Dunkin Donuts coffee...and ok, donut holes). I watched my calories to try to manage my weight, and I always felt hungry and unsatisfied. Sound familiar?
At my wits end, I went to about 10 different doctors in various fields. After every kind of test you can imagine, I discovered I had chronic fatigue syndrome. Not a lot is known about CFS, and the root cause can vary from person to person and is usually quite complicated. Not quite sure what to do to get better, I began to read and research ways I could help alleviate the symptoms.
Armed with new knowledge, I started making changes to my diet and my lifestyle. Using trial and error, I experimented with many different popular and healthy diets. I played around with my fitness routine, and added in hot yoga. If it was holistic, and seemed like it might give me energy or help my symptoms, I tried it! When something worked, I kept doing it. Little by little, I noticed my energy coming back. Then my hair stopped falling out, and eventually my cycle came back. So I kept going, making small changes to my routine over time. My skin started to glow, and I dropped the work-weight effortlessly. And the big bonus - I was no longer hungry all the time!
So no surprise, after all this I was totally hooked on holistic health! I enrolled at the largest nutrition school in the world - Institute for Integrative Nutrition - where I learned more about how to truly nourish the body holistically and studied almost a hundred different dietary theories. Through the school and my peers I was introduced to and adopted even more holistic lifestyle routines and habits. Completely energized by this new world of healthy living, I knew I had to get involved - in a big way!

So, in 2014 I left my corporate job to start Radiant By Nature. Since then I have been so lucky to have been able to see and coach lots of amazing women toward healthy living.
After the birth of my daughter Sloane in 2015, I was fortunate enough to get a job as a health coach at Dr. Amy Brenner, MD & Associates, a women's health and gynecology practice. We take a functional approach to women's health, and I work in conjunction with the doctors there to treat patients with thyroid conditions, leaky gut, SIBO, nutritional deficiencies, and other chronic health problems.
Maybe you have a chronic condition like hypothyroid, or something else you are dealing with that makes you feel yuck - and maybe not! Maybe you just know you could feel better and live healthier than you do right now. You’re probably right! That’s what I’m hear to help you figure out.
